Tulips

This mixed media and oil painting titled "Tulips" is a deeply personal and emotive work, created in memory of a dear friend who recently passed away. The artwork features a striking bouquet of 12 tulips arranged in a decorative jug, each flower captured in various stages of bloom to symbolize the cycle of life—from budding beginnings to the gentle fade of wilting petals.

The tulips are thoughtfully divided into hues that represent different facets of life and emotion: three soft peach tulips symbolize warmth and new beginnings; three bright lemon-yellow tulips convey joy and happiness, though one has a drooping stem to poignantly signify loss and the fragility of life; three deep violet tulips reflect mystery and wisdom; and two rich deep red tulips embody passion and vitality. The varied stages of opening among the flowers highlight the natural progression of life’s journey.

Surrounding the tulips is a lush tapestry of leaves rendered in cool and warm shades of deep green. The interplay of light on the foliage creates a dynamic background that emphasizes both vitality and the passage of time. This setting enhances the lifelike qualities of the painting and adds depth and movement to the composition.

The jug holding the tulips serves as a key focal point and is adorned with a delicate floral design in cream and vibrant blue, achieved through collage techniques.
